Plan C?
What is Plan C?
“Plan C” is a term used to describe different options for accessing medication abortion including self-managed abortion. Medication abortion, also known as the abortion pill, involves using a combination of medications (mifepristone and misoprostol) to terminate a pregnancy in its early stages.
Plan C options typically include obtaining abortion pills through the usual ways plus alternative means, such as buying the medications online. The FDA strongly cautions people against buying drugs from certain Internet pharmacies and specifically warns people not to buy Mifeprex, or the generic version Mifepristone, on the Internet because it by-passes critical safeguards.1,2 Drugs from these websites are unregulated by the FDA, may be fake, expired, or even tainted by contaminants.3
Legal Considerations
The laws governing abortion vary widely from state to state. To be able to make an informed decision, it’s essential to know the laws in your particular state and region as you consider your options. Buying prescription drugs not regulated by the FDA from overseas pharmacies is against the law.4 Call 866-406-9327; we can help you learn more about abortion procedures, abortions laws and other options in your area.
Importance of After Abortion Support
The aftermath of an abortion can bring a roller coaster of emotions. For some women, an immediate sense of relief may gradually be overshadowed by more negative feelings such as grief and guilt. Getting, emotional support after an abortion (whether it was in a clinic, telemedicine, or self-managed) can make the difference in both women’s and men’s long-term well-being. This kind of support is especially important for those who struggle with persistent negative emotions after the abortion.
